When we saw the exorbitant price increases from our current insurance provider, for the next year's coverage we started looking for an alternative source. After reviewing a number of quotes, we were very pleased to find exactly what we wanted from Erie, offered through the Winstead Insurance Agency. Automobile and umbrella policies with the same coverage were roughly half the cost of what our previous provider cited. The home policy also had significant savings. In addition, the people at Winstead were a pleasure to work with, with prompt and accurate information.

We have been with this amazing agency for over 25 years. They performed just wonderfully with our few auto claims, and a major house disaster that took 9 months of renovations to correct. They send a great claims manager and stayed with us so thoughtfully through the entire process. The staff is so knowledgeable and friendly. I've been a customer with Winstead (and Erie) since I was 15 and had a learner's permit. I've always had an easy time with this office, and Erie is really solid insurance. My wife and I use them for auto and home, and we had to file a claim on our home where they covered a significant cost that we were expecting would fall on us. The adjuster was very helpful and informative, and no one made us feel like they were trying to find every way they could not to pay, like some other companies.

Also, we were involved in an accident where the other driver was at fault - admitted it, and got a police report, and their insurance (PROGRESSIVE) gave us the runaround for months. Literally months. We called Erie because we had no choice, and they took up the mantle, got it fixed, and even called Progressive on our behalf. Progressive finally admitted liability for the accident like 3 months after the fact, and we sent the info to Erie (to Winstead specifically) who handled it. Really pleased with their covered and with this office, so writing a review for folks who wonder.

One final note, I have a friend whose dad is a local agent for another insurance. He tried to get me to switch once, said he'd give me a good rate, and he couldn't touch Erie. I have heard they are one of the more expensive for underage drivers, however, if you have kids. Just info based on things I've experienced/heard for those considering a switch.
