My boyfriend and I moved into this apartment complex in October of last year, and let me just say that I am less than impressed with this establishment, and if I could give them 0 stars, I would. We should have known from the get go that things weren't up to par when we initially signed our lease, because before we even signed, we were not shown an apartment, and even after doing so, we were not allowed to see our apartment until move-in day EVEN AFTER PAYING THE PRORATE AND DEPOSIT. At the time, it didn't seem like big deal, but in retrospect, we should've demanded our money back. Also, we both made a point to ask if the previous tenant had smoked in the apartment because I am allergic to cigarette smoke, and they told us that they hadn't. Now fast forward two weeks to move in day, the apartment is not even ready for us to move into, and when they finally finished it 2 hours later, we walked in the door and the smell of cigarette smoke nearly knocked us over. They also CLAIMED that they changed the carpet, but in the living area and the bedroom, there were wax stains where it appeared that someone had spilled candle wax, AND the carpet WREAKED of cigarette smoke and dog urine. We tried complaining, but their response was "Oh that's just the glue for the new carpet. Just air it out." Excuse me, I am not stupid, but whatever. We started going through the apartment after everything was moved in to check things off the sheet they give you so you don't get stuck paying for it later (LOL). After going over everything, we found that the refrigerator was broken, the garbage disposal had nails thrown down it, the bottom of the pantry was rotting and falling through, the air conditioner would not shut off, and a whole multitude of other things that I can't remember. We wrote it all down, and a few DAYS later, it all got fixed after we complained to maintenance multiple times. Everything is good for a while, but a few months later, we are laying in bed and we both hear scratching in the walls and ceiling. My boyfriend goes up to the wall, puts his head against it, and instantly he hears scratching and screeching of what appears to be HUNDREDS of rats or mice. A few days later, I am sitting on the couch and a mouse scurries across the floor. We put out a sticky trap and complain to the office, and AFTER catching the mouse, a lady shows up with sticky traps and says "here ya go" and then leaves. Now, flash to this past May when we are about to move out. Now, I should mention that we got a dog about two weeks before we moved out. I went to the office and asked if there was a need to pay a pet deposit since it was so close to move out, and they said "No don't worry about it." So, we didn't pay it. The dog mostly stayed in her kennel during the day and when were home we kept a close eye on her and made sure to take her out regularly, so any accidents that she had were in the kennel. Now, here we are, the day of move out. We have cleaned everything top to bottom and made sure that everything on the list they gave us was taken care of. We were sure that we were going to get our deposit back, and after about three weeks, we get a letter in the mail saying not only are we not getting our deposit back, but we also owe them $182 for "unauthorized pet, pet damages to the carpet, and general upkeep." Now mind you, the original deposit for them was $250, so in total, they are saying that we caused OVER $430 in damages to the apartment, even AFTER they told us we didn't have to pay the pet deposit. And remember how I said that the place smelled like smoke and urine? Well, I called them, and they told me that part of the fee was due to the overwhelming smell in the apartment, and that when they ripped up the carpet, they found pet stains everywhere. Hmm. That's funny because the dog NEVER peed on the carpet! And also, when I tried to contest the fees, the lady in the office basically told me that she was doing me a favor and that she was going to charge me $500 just for being rude to her. Needless to say, I do not recommend this place to ANYONE!
