I was approved for an auto loan. I was told my loan expired on 3 different dates. Because of this, when I sent in my final purchase order, I was asked to send in my 2 most recent paystubs AGAIN. It was odd but I didn’t question it. Once they received my paystubs my loan officer INES (who sucks by the way) tells me how she had to get an approval override because she gave me the wrong loan expiration date (as she laughed about it). Underwriting also made the approval process harder than it needed to be due to this even though I went for a $19k vehicle instead of the full $30k I was approved for. They finally approved my car and as INES was opening my membership savings account to finalize the loan documents, Spectra did a soft pull. Underwriting said my score changed so I have to reapply all over again. They are supposed to honor my score at the time of my approval for 60 days. My loan is not contingent upon a soft pull for a membership. They were supposed to honor my original approval DUE TO BANK ERROR of my loan officer being incompetent and giving me the wrong expiration date 3 times. Spectra doesn’t want to take accountability and they figure if they ignore me that I’ll give up. I’ve been calling them back to back, with INES and her colleagues picking up & immediately hanging up in my face or sending me to voicemail, ignoring my emails, etc. This is by far the worst bank experience I’ve ever had. Everyone aside from Elliot are very rude & condescending in that department. I haven’t been mean or unprofessional to any one even though I’d be well within my rights. Yet they’re still treating me like a bother. I just wanted a supervisor so we could rectify this issue. Spectra is unprofessional and unorganized. I wish I could give them negative stars.

Credit unions, in my perspective, consistently provide better customer service than traditional banks. My recent visit to this branch of Spectra Credit Union only reinforced that belief.

I needed assistance with Shared Banking and had the pleasure of being helped by Ms. Bwana Ferris. From the moment I approached her, she displayed exceptional courtesy, professionalism, and a genuine willingness to assist. When I realized I couldn’t locate my account number, she remained calm and patient, guiding me through the process and ensuring I had everything I needed.

Her pleasant demeanor and positive attitude truly stood out, making what could have been a stressful situation remarkably smooth and efficient. It’s rare to encounter such outstanding customer service, and Ms. Ferris is a shining example of the high standards Spectra Credit Union upholds.

Thank you, Ms. Ferris, for turning a simple banking need into such a positive experience!

Was happy to learn that Spectra Credit Union performs financial share co-op transactions with my credit union which helped save time and gasoline from driving to my bank and given I wasn't near my financial institution while running errands today. On the other hand, I was unable to conduct a deposit transaction via the drive-thru unexpectedly BECAUSE I am NOT a Spectra member. ONLY, Spectra members are allowed to conduct banking transactions via the drive-thru. This IS completely ludicrous!
Therefore, I had to come inside the bank to complete the deposit slip and provide my ID. I am thankful to share that I have been to other credit unions and conducted business via the drive-thru without being a member of the institution. Spectre should revisit this policy and remove it. The process is the same to perform a deposit transaction for members and non-members. A completed and signed banking slip along with Identification. The purpose of the drive-thru customer experience is to save time and for convenience.

Apparently, management at Spectra doesn't support this idea!

They made phone appointments they didn't keep. Depending on who you talk to, they don't seem to know what they are doing. There is a lack of customer service and care since changing from NRL to Spectra.

I have had this bank since 2005 or 06. The name change made no difference to me. They have been a wonderful bank since day one years ago. I recently got a credit card and two weeks later a car loan. The process was so fast and friendly and very helpful. Maureen Cummins was wonderful thru the whole process. I could not wish for a better experience than I received. I thank you all for everything y’all do. Keep it up!!!!

I couldn't give less than one star, so one will have to do. I was in an emergency situation where I needed access to my account from a shared co-op bank. I was told all I had to do was go to the branch with my ID and my banking information and I would be able to access my money. I looked on the website and the hours of operation said they were open until 6:00pm, but when I arrived to the branch at 5:24pm, the doors were locked and the person inside didn't even address me. When I drove to the ONE available drive through and explained my dire situation, the teller was very dismissive and rude. I pleaded holding back my tears , begging that she make a one-time exception, explaining that I was in an emergency situation and didn't have any other place to go or other means to access my funds and she gave me a very generic, insincere "sorry" and told me again, I had to come into the lobby and fill out the paperwork. I understand rules and protocol, but I also understand human empathy and compassion. I HOPE AND PRAY that whomever that person is MEVER finds herself in a situation like me and is met with the same dismissal I met there today. I would NEVER take any of my business there. Ill never even use their ATM.

I joined this credit union because it is closer to home and they have unique hours that works for me. They have okay services, it is a small CU. I have not been able to get anyone by phone for the past month and the Waldorf location do not have knowledgeable staff and cannot assist much. I learned more information from their website than from the employee who assisted me. She could have at least directed me instead of saying “I don’t know, we don’t do that at the branch”.

I have had nothing but problems with this credit union in the past yea. My mom passed away last year and I took over her accounts. I called them numerous times to take care of one thing or another in settling her estate, and each time I called, they acted surprised that she passed away and asked for documents related, which I already brought to the location and had them scan documents several months prior. Recently, I assumed the mortgage on my mom's house that she had with NRLFCU and it was incredibly painful. They requested documents be signed very quickly, which I understand, but I don't understand why they would only email me OR my husband (who was also signing). It's just been a pain with everything that I have done with this CU. I suggest avoiding them.
