I was previously a client for Geyer & Associates, which was then purchased by Secure Accounting. My time working with Geyer was great. No issues. They were fast and easy to work with.

Ever since they were purchased by Secure it's been a mess. Emails and questions go answered for weeks and weeks. It's impossible to get Jo Ann to respond to anything. Last year they sent me another client's return. I recommend seeking services elsewhere.

To the Secure Team,
I don't know if you aren't staffed appropriately or your preference is to work with businesses rather than individuals, but you need to figure it out. If it's the latter then just stop offer individual tax prep services. It will be better for everyone. The current level of service isn't adequate. You can see it in the reviews here.

Dear Person looking for a Tax Accountant,

Let me add to the chorus of people trying very hard to convince you to STAY AWAY FROM JO ANN DRAGO and/or SECURE ACCOUNTING.

I met with Ms Drago in mid-February of 2024 at their Loveland office. She agreed to review my tax returns from the previous year (to see if anything was done incorrectly). And after that, she would prepare my personal taxes for this year. She said that she would have everything done in "10 days". She then qualified that statement by saying that they were busy, so it might be more like 2 weeks. That sounded fine to me.

I never heard from her again. Nothing.

The only reason I engaged with this company was because of a recommendation from a colleague. He said he's been a client of Jo Ann Drago for several years. He said she did good work. Based on that, I kept assuming that I'd hear from her. So I kept waiting. I emailed and/or called several times over the last few months.

I received no response. Nothing.

Early last week, when I mentioned to my colleague that I hadn't heard anything from her, he said she had not responded to any of his emails/phone calls either ..., though apparently she finally prepared his taxes late last week.

Let me put this in perspective. On Friday, April 11th, my wife made an appointment for me with H&R Block for 4PM on April 15th (the soonest appointment they had available). I uploaded my tax documentation to the H&R Block website. Early on Monday morning (April 15th), I received an email indicating that my tax returns were complete and ready for my review. I eSigned the documents and my taxes were done 15 minutes later.

If anyone from Secure Accounting had contacted me to advise me that they were overworked, understaffed or simply unable to prepare my tax returns, at least I wouldn't have had to scramble at the last minute to get my taxes done. A 60 second phone call or a simple email would have alleviated a whole lot of stress.

I have nothing but disdain for Jo Ann Drago and/or Secure Accounting. They have no business being in a position to potentially put people in legal jeapardy with the IRS.

This is one of the most unprofessional places I have EVER dealt with. JoAnn just stopped doing our month taxes without any communication whatsoever! I called and emailed her countless times to see if there was an issue or inquire what the problem was. I received NO communication back at all. If you don't want to have someone's business that is fine but COMMUNICATE THAT!!!!

I am a fellow small business owner in the same area and I have never experienced the lack of professionalism as I have with this company. We have paid for services through May of 2024 and still have not received YE 2023 figures/ P&L so we can do our taxes. No explanation, no communication. Frustrating doesn't begin to explain it.

.Year three, Joann, the owner who is also the accountant who did my taxes, had surgery & they filed an extension on my taxes, I found out when they finally did my taxes in june.
I asked why they didn't give me a call and let me know. I thought everything was fine until I was sent a letter from the IRS that i owed over 400.00 dollars for interest on the money I owed.
Well, I tried 6 times in 2023 to call her & ended up leaving messages with the receptionist,no return call, nothing.
These are my business taxes, I needed information about an important matter.
Thankfully, I found another accountant that helped me out.
I found out that they had me set up as a sole proprietorship, which means I am taxed on the business revenue. They could have saved me thousands of dollars and let me know that I was set up wrong and moved my business into an S chapter llc.
I want anyone thinking of working with them to remember that if you need business taxes done, do not count on them to have them done on time, or if you some guidance on how your company should be set up or anything else you will have to ask them, they aren't going to tell you. If for some reason you have to call to get info, good LUCK. I would NOT RECOMMEND you use this company you will not be left feeling Secure!

I left a review saying how good they were three years ago. Well, time told a different story. I would leave 0 stars if possible, I trusted the wrong company. Don't make the same mistake!!

I've been a customer of Secure Accounting Solutions for 9 years, and was close friends and a business partner of the founding family. I was always thrilled with the service I received, and recommended them to my colleagues and associates.

Unfortunately, things took a turn under new management. Last year, Jo Ann put incorrect account numbers on my return, which resulted in my refund being delayed for months and requiring many hours of being on hold with the IRS. Jo Ann was dismissive about the mistake, and I chose to overlook it in good faith.

This year, an identical mistake was present, and I refused to sign the returns until it was fixed. Jo Ann chose to file them anyway. She then ignored my emails for almost two weeks. When she did eventually respond, she claimed that she didn't submit the erroneous forms. When I provided proof that she did, she said that someone else at her firm must have done it without her knowledge. When I showed her that the signature on the forms was hers, she said that it was an accident. When I asked for a refund, she instead decided to claim that she was justified in sending the forms and that she did nothing wrong. Two months later, I've been placated, ignored, lied to, given excuses, told that I'm not entitled to complain, led on by false commitments, given an empty apology, gaslighted, and neglected. As of this morning, she now claims that last year's delays weren't from a mistake at all, but rather a 'random audit'.

I'd be inclined to believe it if I hadn't been forced to deal with it myself last year, and heard the reason for the delay with my own ears directly from the IRS, and seen it with my own eyes.

After all this, they offered to knock $50 off the fees for this year, but after two weeks they still refuse to update the invoice, update my address, or take my ex-wife off of it.

I've been forced to file a formal complaint with the IRS and have to take up the charges with my credit card company. I won't be using their services going forward, and will be recommending that my associates do the same.

I absolutely would NOT use Secure Accounting for tax preparation. Communications is horrible. Phone calls and emails are not returned. Meetings cancelled with no apology, and they are” too busy” to reschedule. They had to file an extension for our taxes, but neglected to tell us. We will find another firm next year!

Laura and her team specialize in real estate accounting and tax preparation (although I'm sure she's capable of any accounting). They have been handling my complex returns for years. As an accountant myself, I am happy to turn these taxes over to Laura for her expertise! She is professional, thorough, knowledgeable and researches when she needs to. This is important. I'm very happy to turn my books over to Laura every year!
