Horrible credit union to deal with on loans. They will not work with on payoffs. They try to get every penny out you.
Workers are polite but it's the loan system they have is terrible!

They will literally steal from you , deposited money into the ATM , the ATM errored and didn't give me my money , I went to the bank and told them , they said nope no error , I'm out my whole depositl, so I'm moving to chase , Stay away

Long lines all the time. It used to be that SDCCU could still set itself apart with great customer service but not anymore. And it used to be that SDCCU would set itself apart on fees. But fees are not as good as they used to be.

SDCCU charges $32 for overdraft fees, $5 for overdraft protection (seriously... $5 fee to use your own money to pay for a transaction) $25 minimum balance for checking $5 to replace a debit card, $2 to use an out-of-network ATM (plus whatever the ATM charges)...

The fees used to be competitive but the market has changed. All of the above is $0 at reputable online banks. $0 overdraft, $0 overdraft protection, $0 minimums, $0 debit cards, $0 ATMs. $0 for things you have to pay for at SDCCU.

Interest rates on debts are still good here. But if you don't carry a credit card balance, aren't financing a car, aren't buying a house (read: aren't taking on debt) then your banking needs can be accomplished elsewhere with similar OR BETTER fees/costs and customer service. It’s 2022. Time to change banks.

Opted to visit this location to replace a stolen card so I wouldn't have to wait 1-2 weeks for a new one to come in the mail. Instant regret. There were signs up saying the receptionist was out for the day so I spoke with a teller who was abrupt and bristly. No explanation of process but after looking over my information, I was told to have a seat and someone would help me soon. There was only one other person seated in the waiting area but it was another 45 minutes before I received a new card. The second person who helped me was very nice but the wait time and initial interaction with the first employee made it an overall bad experience.

I love this SDCCU branch. The tellers are incredibly friendly, fast, and knowledgeable. They make conversation while they're doing business with me. I never have a long wait. It's a 5-minute drive from my house and is surrounded by places to eat and shop.

There are SDCCU customers that have had bad experiences, but so do customers of other banks. I've had way more positive experiences with SDCCU than negative, and that's why I stick with them.

I’ve been with SDCCU for 12 years and the customer service declined dramatically over time. I walked in one day and the manager told me to “remove my sunglasses”, which I then replied “these are not sunglasses but transitional lenses”. She then told me to remove the glasses until they cleared up!

After waiting in a long line outside in the sun, and following Covid protocols, you would think they would give better care to the customer. I think I’ve held on to SDCCU because it was my first bank, but it’s about time to move on.
