One star is being nice. This location has the most terrible customer service! This branch needs to hit the reset button and completely start over.

I came in today for the basic request of asking for small bill denominations (to give to my kids as presents) and I was met with an attitude and the philosophy that I shouldn't be making such a request. When I confronted the teller and the manager on duty of the basic request of exchanging or withdrawing $2000 dollars in small bill denominations, I was told that "this isn't the sort of request that SDCCU can or should accommodate". I was also told that I would need to wait (4) four business days to receive my small ask.

I urge all to avoid this location at all cost.

Do not bank here, this place only wants to make it more and more complicated for those who bank here. Between changing addresses, not offering physical debit cards in the credit union, the lies and script they tell and read to you over the phone when theres an issue, only takes more of our valuable time and frustrates us beyond belief. One of the managers named Irvin is a complete liar. I’ve been a member of SDCCU for 16 years, and today I’m closing my account here.

Very bad, slow and improper services. Even 1 is too much for the type of services they provide. Always they should run ?‍♀️ to ask the manager to do the work. Noone knows what is his or her responsibilities. The Manger is Klaudia. I m closing my account.

Really frustrated , had to update my married name. The bank issued me a new credit card and debit card. Not only do they no longer do cards in person but they also no longer allow you to customize your pin. I am tired of how outdated SDCCU is. If EDD cards can allow us to customize our pins , SDCCU should reinstated their customizable pin feature. Also in December our account was hacked , an unknown phone number was added and there was a large ACH withdrawal was scheduled. I still have yet to hear a resolution to that and an explanation as to how my account was hacked.

I had an auto loan processed through a dealership years ago when I purchased a car. All the paperwork was done at the dealership, and I would get monthly statements from SDCCU until my car was paid off. But, I also received monthly Savings statements for an account of $1 that I never opened.

This was my first time stepping inside a SDCCU branch and I came with 2 purposes. I wanted to know if I did have a Savings account with them and if I could open a Checking account.

I arrived about 10 minutes early to the appointment. The person at the front desk had me sign in and then had me go up to the front with her to go over the account options and to sign the paperwork. Now, I have opened bank accounts with other institutions before. This was the first bank where I had to stand the whole time while she typed away at the computer. At other banks, I would be seated at a person's desk and we would review the intents of the bank accounts. Other banks also would turn their desktop screen towards me so I could read the Terms and Conditions before signing. The person who attended to me at her desk had her computer facing her the whole time. In fact, even if she had wanted to, I don't think the layout would have allowed for her to turn the computer to face me. Instead, she verbally told me some conditions and had me sign an electronic signature pad.

When I entered my SSN for the credit check (which other banks did not require when opening accounts), I specifically asked if this was a soft inquiry because I didn't want my credit score to be affected. The banker did affirm that it was a soft inquiry. Well, she lied because it did show up as a hard inquiry affecting my credit score.

The bank itself was neat and quiet but the organization and the banker I interacted with are not transparent with their clients. I'll keep the account open because it does help me manage different savings when they're in separate bank accounts but there's something off with SDCCU.

Tl;dr: They'll run a credit check affecting your credit score if you open an account. I still don't know how a savings account was opened without my approval. They aren't as customer oriented as other banks. Fees are low if you enroll in eStatements and they do offer better ROI for CD's. Be careful when dealing with SDCCU.

I love SDCCU and am pleased with everything except for a credit card that I applied for. This is the second time I apply for one and I don't get approved. I have an account with this bank, my credit score is good, I have a car loan with SDCCU and always make my payments on time. I would like to know the reason why I'm still not getting approved.

They keep blocking my card. There’s money in my account. Tried to use my card at one store this morning for around $12, it went through fine. Went to another store in the same mall, it got blocked for a transaction that was around $20. Called card services on a Sunday, they verified my transactions. They removed any blocks on their end. Tried to use my card again and it didn’t work. This happens all too frequently with my debit card and I’m tired of it. They already gave me a new card and had me update my pin to prevent this from happening and thus far it hasn’t worked. My ability to use my card is very sporadic. This is the era of modern technology right? I shouldn’t have to carry cash on me for everything. Debit card usage is a basic everyday thing. I’m over it. Opened an account at Chase when I got home. Skip this bank, their technology is awful.

Cynthia Valencia Cruz and the teller that helped me were extremely rude and unprofessional. The teller was upset because I asked to do additional withdrawal from my account. I may be wrong but the customer may withdraw whatever amount they may like. I explained to them I was traveling and needed the extra money but they wanted to do additional paperwork. I said nevermind. I am in a rush so I will just get it from the atm. She said if there no illegal activities going on, it shouldn't be an issue. I again told her I am in a rush so she asked me where I worked and my profession. Why will she insinuate that. I guess African Americans should not be banking with this bank because they will look suspicious withdrawing huge sums of money from their account. If I was Hispanic, my experience would have been different. I am a proud veteran who has served for 18 years and to receive this kind of racial profiling from a bank , it is totally unacceptable. I will stop doing business with SDCCU and ensure I spread the word about my experience
