Safeguard has acted professionally throughout my stay. I received my security back from them quickly as well. I would not hesitate to rent from them again!

Had an overall great experience with Safeguard Realty Management. They were professional and efficient from the application process through to the end of my lease. They sent me back my security deposit in a timely manner with no issues at all. Definitely appreciate Ryan and his team for all of their help and definitely recommend renting from them.

Currently renting from SafeGaurd and my roommates and I have been renting from them for 1.5+ yrs. The property we are in is quality and affordable. Yes, our property manager, Alex, is sometimes hard to reach, but he is quite reasonable and fair. I can sympathize with other reviewers' experiences regarding untimely return of security deposit, but I don't think this comes from a place of dishonesty if anything it comes from incompetence. For example, our lease ended in July 2018, we were planning on re-signing, but they didn't request a resigned lease until the middle of October. Just pure disorganizing which I'm assuming stems from lack of staff, but overall a good organization (thus far).

I will update this review upon move out and comment on security deposit process.

I can’t recommend Safeguard. We rented an apartment from them for a year, paid our rent on time and were good tenants. It’s been more than two months since we moved out and still waiting for our security deposit. We left the apartment early and were promised the return of the deposit soon after in an email but it didn’t come. Calls and emails are now ignored with no updates. We need our money back for other expenses. Avoid doing business with them!

Despite some of the other reviews, I have been impressed with the professionalism and willingness to help of Safeguard and its staff. Ryan at Safeguard immediately attended to a plumbing situation and made sure the other tenants had due warning of necessary repairs. He remained in contact throughout the process and to my surprise, the contractors actually showed up when he said they would. Compared to most NYC property management companies, I feel like I am in very good hands with Safeguard and would highly recommend it to a friend or family member.

Whatever you do, DO NOT RENT FROM THESE PEOPLE. They are the worst landlords I've ever dealt with in NYC. They stole my security deposit.

The apartment (1206 Halsey 3L/553 Wilson Ave) was left in good condition, it had nothing to do with that, they simply stole it. Alex Abreu and everyone who works there is unprofessional and their lack of integrity is truly astounding. It's impossible to get ahold of them. They are unresponsive to communication. They waited to approve our application until the last possible second which made planning to move in difficult. Our refrigerator was broken for the second half of my one year residence. It continually broke down and hundreds of dollars of groceries were spoiled. They would not replace it, insisting they would send repair people to fix it. When the clueless repair people arrived they had no idea what they were doing and nothing got fixed. This pattern repeated several times, they never replaced our refrigerator. Avoid them or you will regret it.
