I actually had a great experience renting from the Rieleys. They responded to any concerns I had promptly and professionally, though that was rare. Yes, they do deduct for carpet cleaning--it was right in the lease that I signed so no surprises there. Not only do they itemize, they provide receipts so yeah, if you want to tangle with a landlord in small claims you're probably going to lose to them because they have it together, but if you just want a quiet place and pay your rent on time you probably won't do much better in Burlington.

Horrible landlords. They nickle and dime you for everything. They charged us for postage to mail us letters. Sue was extremely rude on the phone. We were supposed to contact her to schedule a walk through at the end of our lease. I left her two voice messages which were never returned. We had the carpets professionally cleaned, per our lease, prior to moving out. Then they billed us to have them cleaned by their carpet cleaning company. Be cautious with these folks. They are crafty with their additional fees.

While the apartment was well-located and decently outfitted, I was highly displeased with my service. There were many discrete fees during my tenancy (100 dollars to register the apartment, mandatory carpet cleaning fees upon vacating regardless of cleanliness). Additionally, my maintenance issues were often deemed as low-priority (including black mold in my ceiling and a broken refrigerator) due to the large amount of apartments Rieley Properties needed to service. As I upheld my responsibilities (paid my rent and bills several days in advance), I was disappointed with how I was treated as a tenant.

The staff of Rieley Properties is absolutely wonderful, however the organizational aspect of the company is poor and the quality of housing is poor or very poor. They charged me an extra month of rent, and have a lot of fee's associated with their leases. The cost per square foot is high, and the quality of the square feet is low. The apartments in the champlain school house are cheaply refinished by underpaid maintenance workers who aren't given the proper budgets to do a good job.

The amount of noise from the hallways is absurd. The walls are sound proof, however the doors are far from it. You can hear your neighbors talking at normal volume across the hall. Every single person that walks past is very audible so peace and quiet in your apartment is not achievable at any time. The amount of maintenance going on in the building is very disruptive and the Wi-Fi infrastructure is so old that no matter what type of internet service you have you will experience major disruptions in download speed for hours and days at a time.

The Champlain School House building is old, and maintenance is to be expected. It is maintained decently well, however the maintenance that is done is strictly to sell to new tenants, leaving the existing tenants to put up with lots of on going projects. In my year long lease we experienced multiple VERY disruptive problems with our plumbing.

At the out set of the pandemic the company sanitized door knobs, sold toilet paper rolls at hyper inflated prices, but otherwise made no accomodation for their tenants who might be struggling financially.

Overall this company is creates negative value in Burlington, and should be avoided. Scott Rieley is not a gracious or understanding individual, he does not care about his tenants, he only cares about the profit and he made that very clear through out my experience with his company.

I rented at Finney Crossing for 2 years. Scott, Tina and Sarah were all wonderful to deal with. Communication was timely. The building was kept in great repair and any maintenance issues I had were addressed promptly. It is a great location to live and I will miss it!

I lived at the Seymour St apartments and had a great experience - excellent notifications from the property management team and they were as nice when I moved out as when I moved in - also loved the maintenance guys - texted me when they were coming to respond to a request and let me know when they were finished - I’d live there again if I come back to the Burlington Area - thanks for everything Tina and tell everyone I said thanks so much!!

Scott Rieley is - by far - the best and most responsible landlord in the area.
