Unfortunately, our experience with Retire Right was extremely disappointing. Ron was great at selling their services, but his delivery fell short. During our initial discussions, Ron promised to provide us with a plan for rolling our traditional IRA funds into a Roth IRA. However, over the entire year we were with Retire Right, we never received that plan. In fact, we heard very little from Ron or his team, except when they wanted to schedule an annual review.

Beyond the lack of communication, the investment performance was dismal. While our unmanaged accounts were yielding returns of 13% and 17%, our investments with Retire Right barely made 1%. In the first month alone, Retire Right lost us $20,000. We decided to give them more time, but by the end of the year, they hadn’t even broken even, despite charging a 2% fee.

What was most frustrating, however, was the $5,000 loss we incurred when we ended our relationship with Retire Right. I followed up with both a phone call and an email to Ron, informing him that we were ending our relationship and moving our funds. But when we transferred our money, Retire Right reinvested it into other funds because they never removed us from their models. Emily later explained that Ron never communicated our decision to anyone on his team. Despite this, Retire Right offered no remedy for the additional losses we incurred after we had already canceled our account.
