I have been a 2 time customer of Reliance Tax Group. I am very happy with the resolution of both of my issues with them. They were 2 separate issues, and both were handled exceptionally well. Their staff informed me on what I was facing, their plan to resolve it, and kept me informed promptly all through the process. The first issue was when I initially reached out to help my mother resolve a back tax issue when she closed an IRA account, and didn’t withhold any taxes. Reliance Tax Group explained their resolution process and advocated on my mother’s behalf to make repayment to the IRS manageable and not a burden at all.
The second issue was when I reached out for a personal financial matter. After the great results they worked out for my mother’s case, it was a no- brainer to reach out to them to discuss resolving my tax issue. Long story short I sold a home and when tax time came I entered what I thought was the correct information on turbo tax.com after about a year and a half I received a notification from the IRS that I would potentially owe $122k to the IRS. I originally tried resolving this issue by writing a response and providing closing documentation to the IRS. They completely ignored my response even though I sent it return receipt requested, and also certified mail. The tracking indicated they received it, But at least in my personal experience the IRS does play games,( at least if you try and represent yourself) so I knew that I needed a legal representative to advocate on my behalf. After I uploaded all my documents to their online portal, and submitted payment to Reliance Tax Group, they got right to work getting this problem resolved. They originally quoted me 9 months or potentially more to resolve the issue and it was resolved in about 4 months or less. (Your case may vary) The issue was whether or not I qualify for capital gains tax on the sale of my home. After all the documentation came out in the open, I received a notification from Reliance as well as the IRS that the potential debt I owed was not in fact my financial burden. If you used tax prep software in the past and didn’t fill it all out correctly, and have been audited, this team can help you. Thank you again Reliance Tax Group!

I guess I was hoping for a more definitive resolution. It seems that being self employed complicates the issue, but the solution of dragging it out for years will either cost me all the penalties and interest, which keep accruing, or cost me a small portion of the total IF I can manage to remain poor enough to only be able to afford a small monthly payment for the next 10 years, until the IRS finally writes me off.
