I WOULD NEVER recommend Placer Title Company !

They completely failed to catch a major error in the chain of title for a property we purchased in El Cerrito in August 2023. The property sits on two parcels, but they only recorded one, leaving the title incomplete.

This issue surfaced in July 2024 when we tried to sell the property. The buyer’s title escrow company, Old Republic, flagged the problem immediately. As a result, our buyer backed out of the original $1.39M deal, worried about a lengthy legal battle to resolve the title. Although the original buyer eventually returned with a new offer, it was $140,000 less. Even Placer’s own counsel admitted the loss was significant.

While Placer took responsibility by agreeing to insure the title and correct the error for the buyer, they have ignored our request for compensation for our financial losses caused by their negligence. Despite involving a lawyer, Placer has refused to respond.

If you value your time, money, and peace of mind, avoid Placer Title Company at all costs.

Kristi and her team have done several escrows for me, including complex transactions that included a bulk sale of multiple properties, land, and mobile homes on the land.
