On a regular basis, for this branch location only, when attempting to make payments it takes on average about 20 minutes (that does not include wait time but the start time when the teller starts helping me), and even then there seems to be confusion on the part of the bank teller, including the branch manager (this post was created Aug 2024). I'm expecting a payment to take max 5 minutes. This does not occur with every teller, and this issue has never occurred at any other MyPoint branch. If this occurred only once, or maybe a few times, that would be ok but there are only a few ppl at this branch who seem to know how to make payments correctly towards MyPoint accounts. This has only been happening for the past year. When they were at their previous location at 4S Ranch, it never happened. It is better to get transactions done at any of the other MyPoint branches.

Went here to open an account but we're told that we needed an appointment that would take 30 minutes. We asked if there was any way to get it done since we drove in traffic quite a distance to get here. One of the people at the front said hold on let me me see what I can do. She gets a manager who tells us they can't get us in because it will take over an hour to open a new account (we were just told it would take 30 minutes) and that she couldn't keep her staff after 5, it was 4:07 when we walked in. They obviously don't like new customers because when we left there we called a Credit Union two miles away who gladly took us in to open the new account at 4:23pm. They had our account open in less 20 minutes and we're very happy to gain a new customer. Thankfully we didn't get stuck with this Credit Union who doesn't care about customer service and gaining new members.

MyPoint CU has been our family bank for decades. Back then they were Point Loma Federal CU. Names change, but the 5 star financial services and hometown professionalism haven’t. Highly recommend MyPoint CU.

If you want your money in a bank that steals your money in inactivity fees, this one is for you!

You can leave money with them and forget about it. They will do you a favor and enact fees without telling you and drain your account. They will blame it on a law but can't give you the courtesy of a warning.

I was a member for probably 25 years. Now I closed my accounts and will never use them again. I have more money that I did 25 years ago. Not a dime will go to MyPoint.

MY Point is TAKE YOUR MONEY AND RUN!

I have banked with PLCU since 1989, and used the 4S location since it opened. Staff are friendly and helpful. It is very much a local bank. I have had loans of all types with them; home, auto, home equity, etc. They don't always have the lowest rates month to month but they do have the best service.
I don't understand some of the other feedback claiming long lines. Almost every time I walk in there's no waiting. Branch manager and officers even stop what they're doing to see what you need and greet me by name. For the home paperwork I've owned five homes and the process is the same with all the traditional banks. My current home loan is with MUFC / Union Bank which I will look at PLCU first to refinance.
Getting a loan requires reading an email and uploading the requested documents. Every lender requires these documents.
If you're concerned about a few of the lower reviews, don't be. Read some of the other reviews posted by these critics and you'll understand.

I went here to used shared branching from my credit union out of state, Kendra buksas went above and beyond helping me try to arrange payment from my bank. She was very friendly and helpful
