I have applied two loans in the past with Mecu that were approved at the beginning but then later didn’t go through. Heloc to be specific . As each cases are different however if you are looking for consolidation and/or tapping at your heloc for medical purposes and you have high income to debt ratio, go to another credit union. In those times that I was turned down, another credit union was able to give me a chance and my family’s need was taken cared more than expected.I gave mecu a 2nd chance at heloc and that sealed it. Never again. If not for my job that was set up to take automatic savings from my paycheck and going through that hassle again of making changes, I should’ve left mecu long time ago. I use BOA as my primary banking so I will just keep it that way. Availing their loan services being a mecu member for 18 years? Nope! Advice? Seek another company when in dire need that gives a chance to good credit worthiness (700 plus), stable job and income BUT with life high debt income ratio bump. It will save you lots hopes, good night sleep and a dent of that hard pull to nothing.

The Main thing and the most important thing is that the place is clean and the thing that keeps me going back is the people... And that would consist of the employees of the bank and the people that go into the bank. And they are all pleasant and That makes the day go smooth...

I give this a one star because getting through on phone customer service is impossible. Absolutely. Impossible. I give up afer 30+ minutes of continuous hold. When I did get through (rarely), the rep was polite and kind but MECU is highly inefficient for over the phone customer service or fielding any call.

THIS IS THE WORSE BRANCH AND THE WORSE BANK!! YOU GO TO THE ATM TO AVOID COMING INSIDE OF THE BRANCH JUST FOR THE ATM TO STEAL YOUR MONEY AND NOW YOU FIND YOURSELF INSIDE OF THE BRANCH ANYWAY. WAITING AN HOUR TO SEE SOMEONE TO MAKE SURE YOU ARE REFUNDED THE CORRECT AMOUNT!! ALSO APPLIED FOR AN AUTO LOAN THAT TOOK MULTIPLE DAYS FOR ME TO RECEIVE THE CHECK AFTER I ALREADY RECEIVED AN APPROVAL! I SAT IN THE BRANCH AN ENTIRE BUSINESS DAY WAITING FOR THIS CHECK BECAUSE THEY CONTINUED TO PRESENT ME WITH INCORRECT DOCUMENTS TO SIGN!!! I WILL REFINANCE WITH NAVY FED AND CLOSE THIS ACCOUNT!!!!

I’ve been a member for over 5 years, at first Mecu was great but over the years I seen a decline in providing the best customer service. My card was stolen last week and I reported the card to receive a new one. I called Thursday morning around 10am to ensure I would have it in a timely manner. Now today comes and I’m wondering where’s the mecu debit card because all of my other cards came in the mail sometime this week, hell I even have a navy federal card that came in the mail literally the day after I called them to cancel the old one. When I called mecu today I was told my card was just shipped the day before 😒 and I still have to wait ANOTHER 7 days for the card to come and unlike navy federal I can’t go inside a branch to get at least a replacement card. Mecu had the audacity to charge a $10 replacement fee for a new card 🤦🏾‍♀️ At this point I’m considering to just close my mecu account and just sticking with Navy federal because the service is WAY better and I can go inside a branch and pick up a card

I went to Loch Raven location on Saturday March 11th to pay off a personal loan. Joyce Hughes was a big help with assisting me with what I needed. I had went to the Mecu branch on Northern Parkway the Saturday before and the representative was clueless, and I left there very frustrated. I'm grateful for people like Joyce Hughes who take the time to listen
