Summary: did not file my taxes till November. Over a month after the deadline

I normally do my own taxes as they are pretty straight forward to do as a single without a lot of assets. However last minute I decided to have Gene do my taxes for 2021 because that year was slightly more complicated. After giving Gene my information he filed an extension and said that he needed to verify some information but would take care of it. 8 MONTHS LATER I call to ask for a copy of my 2021 tax return as I had emailed earlier in the day but hadn’t received a response. Turns out he forgot to do my taxes. Period. And making the calls to verify that information took all of 10 minutes. Needless to say I was livid at having my taxes filed over a month past the extension deadline. But what I’m even more upset at is the fact I trusted this man to take care of my taxes and he grossly violated my trust. He did not even have the courtesy or initiative to tell me if there was any information that I needed to provide or something I needed to do on my part. To my frustration that it’s over a month past the deadline date, he simply replied that it shouldn’t be a large issue since I don’t owe any taxes. I can’t help but think that if I had more assets perhaps my case would not have been so disregarded. He didn’t even have all my documentation in a single file and I had to resend a document.
