AVOID THIS BANK AT ALL COST!!!
I recently moved to the area and figured I should start moving things over to a local institute and saw a lot of Golden 1 bank locations so thought it would be a good choice. I was SO wrong!
I opened my account online and funded it by moving money from my current bank. Even got my online banking set up on their app. They mailed me a debit card and a check book with no other communication. I went on the app to activate the debit card and was locked out. When I tried to follow their instructions it tried to text a code to a number that was not mine. Red flag number 1.
I called the number and was told that my account was never actually set up because I need to send them identification. Ok…no problem. Uploaded requested document. No communication for over 2 weeks! Red flag number 2.
I emailed yesterday to their customer service line and received a response today that they identified my documents are counterfeit and closed my account. To get my money back I would need to contact the bank I sent it from. WHAT?!?! You wrongly felt my id is counterfeit and instead of contacting me or having me come down to the branch you just close it and hope I never wonder where my money is?!?!?! I will be reporting this to the BBB and I hope everyone avoids this place like the plague. I am beyond angry that a place would toy with a person’s money like this for over a month now before just going…oh well…you go do the work yourself.

I used to be very pleased with the services provided by this bank, however, the quality of customer service has significantly declined. The Jackson, California branch is now staffed with new employees who lack the necessary skills and do not provide satisfactory customer service. I particularly appreciated the previous staff members, and I believe that the closure of the Ione, CA branch has negatively impacted the overall quality of service. Today, I encountered an unpleasant situation where the sole individual working at the customer service window was unable to provide change and displayed a lack of courtesy. Additionally, it would be greatly appreciated if the bank could provide water to customers, especially during periods of high temperatures.

Nice to bank with them when you can get in to see them. The lines are constantly out to the door and it makes for a very frustrating wait in line. Things were just fine when the area had the additional office in Ione, CA. I never had to wait. But someone in corporate office who apparently doesn't care a awful lot about customer satisfaction decided to close that branch and funnel us all like cattle to a single office. This move was great for G1's bottom line but a poor customer satisfaction.

Not a good day. T hey closed my account. And insisted I open a new one. I had several deposits. Not only would they not let me access my money. They couldn't even tell me when I could. My account was hacked I guess. Had somebody's email down as mine and i never heard of the email before. So basically I was punished for my account being hacked. They treated me like I was responsible. I was quite taken back from the way they spoke to me. To top it off. NOT ONE EMAIL OR ANY NOTICE FROM GOLDEN 1. If I hadn't gone in there today I would of never known. I can't pay some of my bills now. I've been with them for about 10 years and I was treated like a criminal. Not once we did they say sorry or seem even concerned. I'm devastated and will be looking for a new bank. I would and will not recommend them to Anyone

Ever since the Ione, CA branch closed this bank has turned into a joke. 6th time in a row between 2 atms it has not accepted my cash deposit. Always says not available. Then because there is only one branch in the whole county the like is minimum 12 customers long. I am really considering going back to a bank as this place waste so much of my time now for the most basic of services. Unless you are the type that comes to a bank to stand in line and socialize, you may want to put your money elsewhere.

I have been with Golden 1 Credit Union, Jackson for nearly 30 years. Since the Ione Branch closed, our branch has had an extremely endless, long line, pretty much any day you go in. The manager, Stacey, will sit at her desk and gab with a co-worker, who appears to be on his lunch break, all the while turning away customers inquiring about opening new accounts (I watched as it happened, twice, this afternoon). Such horrible customer service, especially seeing as only 1 window of 3 were open today (Stacey should be working a window!). GET IT TOGETHER, Golden 1, I’m about done with you! Sadly, this has been my third issue with this bank in regards to lazy customer service in the last 6 months. Too much competition out there to have such a horribly managed branch as the Jackson Branch.

After finally getting to the front of the line…40+ minutes, Stacey informed me she’s not allowed to help customers even when the bank only has one teller working because she’s not on that system. If this is true, it is a PATHETIC business practice and NEEDS to be changed! Wow!

***Update!!! I talked with Stacey’s supervisor, Charlene Short, and found Stacey lied to me. She is able to help customers and is expected to do so when needed as in the above situation. Stacey should also be walking the bank regularly talking to her customers. Integrity is everything, Stacey.

This situation is pretty eye opening if you ask me. Most honestly, if things don’t improve quickly, it will be time to walk across the parking lot to a friendly, more customer centered bank. I can’t continue to wait 30 to 60 minutes, on a regular basis, in a line to do bank business.

Staff is very friendly and they work very hard to make their customers happy, I always enjoy their attitude and customer service skills.

That being said, something needs to be done for their lines going out the door... trying to meet with a teller on your lunch can eat up over 30 minutes of just waiting in line.

Great place to bank, but very frustrating lines.

God dang full-time job to bank with these people. Huge lines. And soooooooo limited for business accounts.
