Love working with Crystal at Choice New York Management. Anytime our team works with a client in one of the buildings she works with, I know that not only if I have any questions she will respond right away, but everything always goes smoothly. I've worked with many management companies in New York and Crystal is by far the most pleasant associate to work with. She is communicative and friendly, and her emails never make me feel like I'm bothering her. She also responds promptly. I don't think I've ever had to follow up on an email I sent because I didn't hear back, which happens more often than you'd think. I really do appreciate the chances I get to work with Crystal because it makes my job a little easier, and she is definitely an asset to the Choice NY Management team. Thanks, Crystal!

In my 10 years in NYC, this has to be the worst management company for an apartment I have had. This building management company is completely neglectful, unresponsive, and outright disrespectful to tenants. They ignore urgent maintenance requests, take days (if not weeks) to respond—if they bother to respond at all—and show little to no regard for the well-being of the people who live here. Basic necessities like heat/hot water and essential repairs are treated as afterthoughts, and their lack of professionalism is beyond frustrating.

They clearly do not care about the tenants or maintaining the property. If you’re considering renting in a building managed by them, do yourself a favor and look elsewhere

This company manages the apartment complex I live in.

My impression so far is that they are disorganized. Their communication skills are lacking and their soft skills leave something to be desired.

I love my building, but my interactions with the management company have been largely disappointing.

Choice management is absolutely 💯 percent with being attentive, concerned, knowledgeable, on time appointments, replacing any items in a timely manner, responding to e mails, calls, office visits and being outstanding with professional and courteous interactions with tenants. I highly recommend this company to manage and recommend anyone to becoming a tenent of such management.

Avoid any and all properties managed by this company.

I had a broken AC/heater for months before someone finally came to fix it: see the photo for evidence of the geyser of filthy, inky black water that would shoot out. It was like that for most of the time I lived there.

There was a massive fire on my floor in the Spring; this was a large enough flame that the firefighters smashed the hallway windows for ventilation and my own unit on the other side of the large building filled with smoke. Not only did NO fire alarm sound during the emergency, but they sent exactly one text (and of course no recompense of any kind) regarding what happened. That kind of overt negligence veers towards being criminal. The hallway remained smoke damaged and unsightly for the next two months until I moved out; I’m sure it’s still a mess (photo included).

While they were fixing the hallways, their workers managed to crack an electrical socket from the other side of the drywall, so there was literally a hole from my bedroom directly into the public building hallway. The third photo shows light from the hallway shining through that hole directly into my room.

Plenty of other one-star reviews here sufficiently illustrate the widespread problems with cleanliness, management, and safety. The building lost heat a minimum of 3 times over the winter (and we lost hot water multiple times as well). The automated door access system they use (Butterfly MX) never worked properly throughout the building for the entire duration of my lease. For a building this allegedly "nice" (and expensive), these kinds of pervasive problems are unacceptable.

I have spent the last month receiving zero information regarding the return of my security deposit. No itemized receipt of deduction, no info about delivery, no walkthrough when I moved out, nothing. Email outreach to Gresa Uka is mostly ignored, and her voicemail is, of course, always full.

Renting in a building managed by Choice NY has been a nightmare. Save yourself the stress and live anywhere else.

As a condo board member for many years, my experience with Choice has been largely positive. Jack Ben-Harari has been our building manager for nearly 3 years; he is extremely responsive, flexible, and very pleasant to work with. He manages or assists with a wide-variety of building-related issues, which as a small building, is extremely helpful.

Choice has been an absolute mess and frankly negligent management group since I began renting with them in late 2023. My property manager expresses little to no concern over the functionality of the building and in my personal experience my unit.

When I first arrived the CO2 monitors in the unit did not have batteries and one was found to be defective. Then my heater did not work for 3 months, which was a slog to get fixed. The property manager initially tried to fix but never followed up when parts needed to be ordered. Never followed up to make sure the matter had been taken care of. This was after he ignored my calls, emails, and text messages. Eventually it was fixed after badgering him for 3 months. (All well documented)

The elevator in the building has been out of order since February 15, 2024 with no viable option in sight. Management says they will keep updating us but to no avail. Their projections of any plan or completion date continue to be TBD at best in spite of the numerous violations given by the department of buildings.

When I arrived late 2023 the building's fire alarm console (I believe) was clearly showing a low battery. This eventually, in the past 3 weeks, has caused 3 false fire alarms in the building which has now promoted to FDNY calls. Not only this dangerous but the highest form of negligence by the property management.

Lastly, the building's front door is not working properly which means anyone can walk in roam the building freely and/or steal the tenant's packages. When I asked the super when this would be fixed, he responded frankly "I don't know". Which essentially sums up the atrocious handling of this property by Choice.

It is inconceivable to me why this property management company would be so incredibly negligent towards its tenants. Of which a majority of the tenants here have filed multiple complaints. I hope this message can spur a rapid evaluation of Choice's poor efforts (at best)
