I will remove the 1 star review once they resolve our totalled car that their policy holder wrecked. The accident was March 7th and it took until March 31st to get an answer that they totalled my car. Now getting a low ball offer and not responding to us I don't know what to do. I can't tell if it is incompetence or purposely making it difficult. It shouldn't be this hard to communicate with us and show some kind of compassion of what their policyholder did to us. I'm paying insurance on a car that's been sitting for pushing 4 weeks and I'm only writing this review because I can't get a hold of anybody at the insurance company.

What a terrible business to deal with!! After paying them $30K over 9 years with no claims, they canceled my policy for being late twice. Then sent me to collections saying i owe them $105 for the coverage right before they canceled me. What a scam!!

From my experience with Brethren Mutual and from reviewing many of the other reviews I have concluded that they may be better for personal insurance but stay away from them for commercial business insurance. They are inconsiderate and will not work with you. I was with them for our business insurance for 5 years. In the first 4 years we had no claims. In the 5th year we had 2 building property claims. One was a pipe break in the winter and the second was water/sewage damage. These claims drug out and they had some issues with the adjusters that they chose. I had to wait way too long for the payment on the pipe break claim. I had to pay the invoices for the repairs out of our funds and wait on the insurance funds. I guess they are allowed to pay late but we can not. Our business has seasonal traits based on the local college with slower times in the summer. We were on a payment plan and some our our payments arrived later than due but our coverage was paid in advance past the due dates of payment. We always paid and included the late fees that they charge. After the two claims that were close together they decided to non renew us for the next year. I have always been a loyal person and kept them on as the insurance carrier when we purchased the business. Basically they are more worried about the dollars and not about the clients. I realize that business are meant to make money. They made money off of us for the first 4 years. We have paid all amounts that are due (yes some payments were late) and complied with every premium increase each year that we have been with them. If I could give them a zero stars I would but it forces me to give at least one star. They are good with you when you have no claims but once you have a claims you are out. If you are looking for commercial business insurance look elsewhere. I have rarely written a review on anything but this has me so upset I needed to speak my thoughts in hopes of helping others.

This company is an absolute disgrace! My father used them for car insurance for years before he passed. As his estate is coming to a close I discovered this joke of a company had continued to withdraw monthly payments from his account for over a year after his death. Even with the death certificate they are refusing to reimburse any money because I don't have a tag receipt for a vehicle my father sold BEFORE he passed. Now I have to pay the Maryland DMV for records to prove a dead man isn't still driving around. This company is a joke. Save yourself and your family the trouble by never using them.

Take your commercial insurance needs elsewhere. Our experience with Brethren Mutual has been nothing short of frustrating and disappointing. Billing department unwilling/unable to assist. Zero flexibility.

After our insurance premium nearly doubled overnight, which was a shock to us. The billing department was unwilling to work with us, and demanded their payment within two weeks. Our agent assured us that we would not be charged any late fees, but unfortunately, we were charged anyway. When we tried to work with the billing department to resolve the issue, they were inflexible and unhelpful.

We decided to take our business elsewhere, and after paying for the month of January & February in full, they charged us a cancellation fee.

Furthermore, we would not recommend Brethren Mutual Insurance for a commercial policy, particularly for young small family-run businesses (who provides 7-10 part time jobs and has supported over a dozen local non-profits in 2023 so far). It is clear that they only care about making money, not about their customers' well-being. They have shown no interest in helping us navigate our insurance policy and have been unresponsive to our inquiries.

We have had our business insurance through Brethren Mutual for a little over 3 years now. I never had 1 issue with them, and any time we need a certificate, they're super fast with service. I'm definitely a satisfied customer.

I’ve had Brethren Mutual for over 28 years. My insurance was canceled and I wasn’t aware of payment. Because I wasn’t getting all my mail. I was staying at my daughter’s recovering from a total knee replacement. The payment was due Nov.15 and I didn’t know this. I called about my insurance I was told it was canceled. On Dec.9 I nearly begged her to reinstate. Finally she did. She wouldn’t wait until Wednesday. I asked affirm and each time they sent me a virtual credit card. I thought it went through. But the next day it was denied because Brethren Mutual weren’t their vendor. Now I didn’t know. I gave her my Apple Master Card and she refused. I said I’ve been with you for over 28 years. I was told that’s not their problem and that she couldn’t help me. She was not polite at all. I said you don’t give a grace I was told for one week. I think this was not fair .Because I had been with Brethren Mutual for over 28 years. But it didn’t. 😕
