RENTER BEWARE!
Not an honest Company.
I definitely DO NOT recommend renting from Bowen Property Management.

They keep your security deposit and add thousands of dollars on top of that, that you MUST pay… for “bogus” maintenance & damages.

Although we:
1.) Paid rent on time & took special care not to cause additional damage to the townhouse (e.g., smelly dirty carpets that we had to shampoo 3 times BEFORE moving in, to make it livable.)
2.) Thoroughly cleaned the place.
3.) Shampooed the carpet
4.) Mowed the lawn before we moved out…

We were coerced out of our entire security deposit PLUS++ ! (x3)

If we didn’t pay what they demanded or if I were to dispute the charges, they threatened to make us pay for their “Lawyer Fees” as well.

We are not kids. Both of us are in our 70’s, recovering from Cancer, and on a limited income. We tried to call and email the office. They don’t answer their phones nor return calls or emails.

When I gave the agent my check, she snatched it up with a villainous smirk on her face and said, “The owner will be happy…. Bye bye!” And then she dismissively strutted away from me.

I’m curious how they stay in business?
I’m thinking …. Maybe by victimizing people with unfair charges?!

I moved into 3 W North Ave June 16, 2021. I spent several day cleaning the dirty apartment they rented me. While cleaning I notice the bathroom floor was dangerously dry rotted. The only thing keeping me from falling into the basement and breaking my neck is a thin sheet of linoleum. A 9 inch wide by 32 inch long hole in the floor all that originated from a leaky tub. I put in a work order on the June 20, 2021, contract Lakia Turner and Kate Walf several about this dangerous floor but continue to get the run around. I’ve even tried to get in contact with upper management and still nothing. This apartment should have never been rented in this condition.

TERRIBLE customer service. They should be ashamed of themselves. Heather in the office hangs up on people who ask for assistance. Jamie fails to communicate unless it benefits her. Kim was the ONLY person in the office that was helpful. NONE of the issues I have including a ceiling that was on the verge of collapsing was an issue in Bowens eyes. I would not have this company manage ANYTHING. This encourages me to start a management company knowing this is how people are treated. Home owners deserve better than what Bowen has to offer.

Never rent from Bowen. House we rented was a dirty upon move in (previous tenant's child's toys in every nook and cranny, dirt, dust, mold--yet of course they provide an exhaustive list of what needs cleaned when we move out), yard was completely in disarray (though when we moved out lord knows we got charged for not mowing it right before inspection). The bathroom's electricity was entirely broken and it took them SEVEN MONTHS to fix it (after claiming they were contacting an electrician for seven months). A big issue was the basement: moldy, full of dirt, mud, bugs, wild plants. I voiced concerns about it because the house was literally tilted from the unsafe foundation. Mushrooms grew in our first floor bathroom, mold was everywhere in the house, mice galore--we never once heard back from Bowen. They have no concern for their tenants and will do anything they can to avoid fixing issues but will stop at nothing to make sure they get every last penny.

Bowen Property Management has been managing several of my properties since 2019 and they've been doing a fantastic job! The team is highly professional, respectful, pleasant to work with, communicate very effectively, and they pay attention to details, which is very important to me. I always receive a prompt response and things never get "lost in the shuffle" as they ensure to follow through on everything. They make sure that the tenants and properties are being well taken care of and any issues that are reported, etc. are all properly addressed. I’m also kept apprised of everything going on which I appreciate. Tenant relationship is key to this and honestly it’s a pretty tough job, and Bowen has really been doing phenomenal! Thank you Jaime, Bonnie, Lakin, Heather, Kate and the entire team for all you do!!!

I DO NOT Recommend this company at all. They have been in charge of the duplex that I have faithfully paid rent to for almost 6 years now since January. They have been trying to evict me unlawfully since they took over. I have 2 children and a granddaughter living here. I've never been late on the rent unless the numerous property management places have not fixed things that was needed fixed in my home. The landlord has switched property management places numerous times like 7 times in 5 and a half years.. then they have no clue about my house nor what needs to be done here in repairs. I have to threaten all these places with court action then they slide a eviction notice on my door a few days later. It's not too much to ask to fix leaks and important issues in a rental. And it's really sad that I'm unemployed and know the laws better than the people running my home. Real nice way to treat a faithful paying tenant that tries there best to keep the property nice.... I'll go through a private landlord next time... And FYI I ONLY recommend Ridgecrest property management if you need a place in Hagerstown or the surrounding area..... See y'all in court.....

Months ago I scheduled an appointment to tour a property and they couldn't get the door unlocked. I was told if I was interested to submit an application ASAP so I submitted one that night despite not seeing the rental. Less than 24 hours later they tell me "sorry, the property is no longer on the market." I asked they refund the $30 application fee and they never did. Don't ever waste your time with these people. Such a scam.

This company will waste your time and money. I filled out an application only to find out that property was rented out 5 minutes before I applied. Then when I asked for my money back they just sent me to tour another property. I’m now going on 3 weeks of calling for updates on my application and everytime I call my calls are screened or I’m told that someone is on vacation for the next 5 days and I won’t have an answer until the next week all while being condescending and treating me as though I’ve done something wrong for calling them. DO NOT BOTHER. Idk what the scam is or if they’re just lazy or what but you will not be renting a home anytime soon going through this company.
