Here is an email (copy and pasted), from Alison Mora Chapman to me on 3/27/23, “I can’t read minds, and there is not enough time in the world to education my clients about every single deduction and credit that is available. You can seek assistance elsewhere for the amended 2021 tax return if you aren’t happy with my services or fees.”

To hear from your CPA that she does not have the time to educate her clients? This is why we get a CPA! A CPA is supposed to be an expert who should ADVISE you on how to save you money. This is why you pay top dollar for a CPA.

To recap this situation, we have been with Alison for 7-8 years. 3 years ago, we had a child. Is it unreasonable to expect our CPA to inform us of the tax credits/deductions we qualify for after having a child? We don’t think so, but she obviously strongly disagrees. We were told by coworkers that we get a credit for having our child in daycare. When we brought this to Alison, she went back to amend our prior years’ taxes and sent us a bill to process this change. We kindly disputed the bill, as we felt this is something she should have brought to our attention as she knew we were new parents and we are paying top dollar for her services. She responded with the above. Your choice, but if you want to trust your CPA is doing everything they can to benefit you, per Alison, “there is not enough time in the world to education my clients.”
