This will be my first time ever posting a negative review. I recently purchased a vehicle that our dealership financed. The dealership had me complete applications with Sierra central and members first. They said they would pick whichever gave them the lower rate. I thought it was weird being able to drive off with the car without a specific loan(that should have been my first clue). I left the dealership with our vehicle and never received any emails or mail from the dealership or members first informing me when the first payment was due or how I would pay. My last auto loan and mortgage didn’t start until a month after the purchase so I figured I wouldn’t start worrying until a month after(I shouldn’t have left the dealership without loan paperwork). The first correspondence I received was a voicemail from an unknown number saying I was past due on a payment and a letter in the mail a few days after saying I was 2 weeks behind. I called in immediately to make a payment and they asked for my member number or loan number. I asked how I would find that without any information emailed or mailed to me. You also can’t create an online login without these numbers. The only thing worse than the customer service is their online portal. I have been unsuccessful in making a payment without calling in to the hotline for help. The first time I was caught off guard because I had to transfer funds from my chase account to their portal’s currency “base shares”. It took a few days for the money to go from chase to their portals currency which made me late for my second payment despite attempting to pay it 3 days in advance(with all the trouble I already had I should’ve logged in earlier to make the payment and get familiar with the portal). After having help from customer service and explaining the situation they did waive the late fee and showed me how to make a payment directly from my chase account. This next time around, I logged on 2 weeks in advance to pay my third payment but have been unsuccessful. After logging into the portal and following the directions from the previous customer support call, I was prompted to answer a security question in order to make a payment(why are they creating more barriers to make a payment). I somehow failed my security question of the city I was born in. I tried different variations of capital and lowercase spellings without luck and am now locked out of my account, unable to make a payment. The only other experience I have to compare to for an auto loan was through Tesla and Wells Fargo. That experience was so smooth and easy to navigate that I am left with a bad taste in my mouth. I really wanted to grow a relationship with a local credit union especially living just down the street from Members First but will not refer anyone to this company. I have never been late on any payment before members first and am left feeling defeated.

They were a pleasure to work with! Opened account in one day with no problems. We had a TERRIBLE experience trying to open account with Sierra Central recently (2023). Much better experience by phone and in person with Members 1st. We are a retired couple with very high credit rating and expect a lot from institutions where we place our hard earned dollars.
