I recently had a highly frustrating experience with Truwest Credit Union that has left me extremely dissatisfied with their services. I have encountered numerous issues with my card, leading to constant declines and an inability to reach their support team for assistance. This has resulted in significant inconvenience and, most recently, left me stranded for two days, forced to sleep in my car.

One of the main issues I faced was the constant card declines, even after I had requested the removal of my spending limit. Despite approving transactions through their text confirmation system which was delayed until the following morning, I found that my card continued to be declined, specifically over a $50 deposit I owed to a hotel. This meant that I had already paid for the room but was unable to access it, resulting in further inconvenience and the need to sleep in my car.

Apart from the technical glitches that caused my card to decline, I also found the Truwest credit cards to be flimsy and unreliable. They hardly work anywhere, adding to the frustration and limitations of using their services.

Additionally, if you are considering opening a business account with Truwest Credit Union, be prepared for a difficult and cumbersome process. They require an excessive amount of paperwork compared to other financial institutions. In contrast, when I opened a business account with Chase, I found the process to be incredibly smooth and easy.

Based on my personal experience, I cannot recommend Truwest Credit Union. The frequent card declines, lack of timely support, and difficulty in obtaining a business account make it a poor choice for anyone seeking reliable banking services. I highly recommend exploring other options that prioritize customer convenience and satisfaction

Do NOT work with their Credit union unless you enjoy being harassed, insulted, yelled at and then have management disregard the abuse of their employees when you finally had enough and match their energy. These reps act as if they have ZERO home training and wonder why customers do not feel comfortable giving out personal information, ie new address, place of employment. I’m sorry but if you speak to me with such contempt then I most definitely will not disclose that information and TruWest only has their own reps to blame for this. I have never been so disgusted with a company as I am with TruWest to the point that I reached out to the dealer I bought my car from to let them know so that they do not subject any further potential customers to this disgusting behavior.

I wish there were option for less than one star. I have a credit card with these people and there was fraud from all over the world and they will not help. I have $600 in charges they decided that they were going to pay 60 of it. I work with several agents both locally and overseas and ultimately they just ended up slamming my credit score and charging fees. Will be getting to one of locations to close my savings account ASAP! Criminals

Do you like dealing with MVD? Yes? Then this is the bank for you!

Highlights include:

1) Extended Customer Service hold times.
2) When you actually speak with a “representative” you are transferred to someone who will “better assist” you.
3) You get transferred so much that you eventually speak with the same person who, guess what...TRANSFERS YOU TO SOMEONE WHO CAN BETTER ASSIST YOU.
4) Frequent apologies for not being able to assist you.
5) Frequent apologies for having to transfer you.
6) Frequent assurances that your call is important to them.
7) Snazzy hold music.

As the gentleman below mentioned, Worst experience with customer service in this Credit Union. They'll shuttle you from one department to another, including their "collections" department for making payments to any of your loans. They'll block access to you online accounts and not allow you to either deposit or move funds, so you can not pay your bills. What kind of customer service is that? Who am I to judge though. Try it out for yourself and see it. Even better - just stay or run away somewhere else. Nothing but bad taste here.

Think twice before doing business with TruWest; it is clear they do not care about their clients, and they readily hide behind questionable policies. I am appalled by the lack of care, compassion, and more importantly, the possible illegal actions by TruWest CU. TruWest is aggressively blocking the account access of a TruWest legal account owner. My mother recently passed away, but months before her passing, she added a family member as an authorized account owner so that the family could still access her account if something happened to her. After hours on the phone with TruWest (much of it on hold), supervisor Chantelle Viliborghi at TruWest went out of her way to make this difficult time more painful. Not only did Ms. Viliborghi show no compassion or sorrow for our loss, she was indignant when we questioned her rationale regarding blocking account access to a legal account holder. Stay away from this credit union.

We signed a mortgage with TruWest in December. In February, we noticed that our payments were being applied mostly to interest, not principal. We spoke with TruWest representatives on two occasions. Once we were told we would have to call and request each time a payment was made that we wanted our payment to be applied to the principal. The second time we were told that it was a mistake, that future payments would be applied to the principal.

Stupid me, I believed them, and didn't double check. The past 5 months of payments have not be applied to our principal. I doubt any of them ever will, and I will actually have to call every month to have them redo the payment.
