made an appointment for financial planning and all he did was look at my taxes. that cost me $600 and the asvice for lowering my tax burden was “earn less income.” with that advice, I went out and educated myself some more and discovered that really what I wanted was to become an S-Corp. so I went back to Tom Scott to have him start an LLC for me so that I could turn it into an S-Corp. I paid to establish it and then nothing, I’ve received no paperwork and no information- I dont know if this is right or not, i was left with the impression I would’ve received something in the mail regarding my LLC establishment, but Ive gor nothing.
last year (23) I paid $600 to file my taxes and luckily, I know enough about tax code to have caught the mistake that he made where I would’ve paid Arizona tax on my retirement income instead of receiving it all back. - i’m not saying that I expect everybody to be perfect and not make mistakes, but military retirement income is not taxed in Arizona, so if I would not have caught it, I would’ve had to pay Arizona state taxes because he did my taxes wrong.
So, all in all, I’ve paid close to $2000 to
1-not receive the information i asked for (financial planning for the future so that I can have long-term income and not have to lose it all in taxes
2-establish an LLC but not the S-Corp
3- correct the account on my own taxes. This year I went ahead and did them myself and hopefully I will, learn more information about how to be a good financial planner from the Internet
