I first met David Hodges when he agreed to usher my brother and me through the settling of my mom's estate 7 years ago. That “project” took many many more hours than we had anticipated, yet David refused to increase the fee that he had originally quoted. Despite the long process he persisted with patience as well as empathy for the grief that we were experiencing during that time.
Becoming convinced of David’s integrity and professionalism during that difficult period, I decided to put my investments and savings under his management. He has done an excellent job, not only in determining the proper balance and diversity of my account, but in explaining to me in logical terms the reasons for his decisions. We discuss each quarter the status of my account as well as my short and long term plans, goals, and questions. He coordinates with the CPA that my husband and I use to file our income taxes and is accurate and timely in the information that he provides.
David’s service has truly been all encompassing. With a wide network of valuable contacts he knows just who and when to consult or refer me to. He provided me with valuable advice and reference material during my daughter’s transition from high school to college--which incidentally occurred right around the time I took early retirement. Both happy but stressful events were more manageable with David’s help in planning, hashing out, and executing the necessary financial actions to make both a success. He even helped me to complete my first FAFSA form—a dreaded rite of passage for the parents of a college bound senior.
After college came questions of how my daughter could best finance her law school education primarily on her own. David met with us again and talked with her about a variety of options as well as the pros and cons of each one. With her graduation coming up next spring, we all met once more just recently, this time to discuss optimally navigating student loan repayment. She was very impressed that David had already drawn up for her some alternate budgets that she might expect to follow based on factors such as public vs private sector career choice, lifestyle during the payback years, and the trade-offs needed to consider in budgeting her income. Included was an important talk about the value of beginning to save for retirement while young.
In short, I enthusiastically endorse David Hodges as a financial manager/counselor and have referred friends and family who also hold him in high regard. He provides critical advice through a variety of circumstances and makes it easy for you to analyze your options from several viewpoints. He remembers to consider the questions that you forgot to ask. Most importantly, you always feel that he has your very best interest at heart.
