Recently switched my auto, and home policies to Joe Potts Agency. I can't express enough how great him, and his admins are with us clients. They are always helpful and courteous. Joe has offered us reviews and sat with us to review multiple companies to make sure we are getting the best rates. If you are looking for that part of the family connection you will find it in the Joe Potts Agency, we highly recommend them!

Joe Potts insurance has been a life saver for me and my family. We were new to the area and he personally went out of his way to offer suggestions on areas with better rates and good schools. He was very professional with me and my husband with all our questions and rate comparisons to “other” agencies. We are so happy we made the switch. Always a smile and asks about how we doing.

My favorite insurance company so far. I’ve been with this company about a year and they always help me with saving money and understanding everything in my policy. And I’m always reminded of the smart ride to help me get that discount! They are so friendly and always do their best to keep you satisfied. Thanks Joe!

I am writing to complain about the horrendous attitude my agent displayed towards my wife. We have been customers of Joe for over 10 years. During these years, I have had zero complaints and was quite happy with my relationship. However, recently, after a more thorough review of our insurance payments - and I take full accountability for missing this - we found that we were actually paying double the amount for what we thought our insurance was costing. I cannot fault Joe with this due to the fact that I did not catch this and as this was set up to be an automatic withdrawal, did not think to look into it further. I was also under the mistaken impression that my agent would be out for my best interests and offer me the best quality product within a reasonable budget. When my wife called Joe to try to terminate the policy, he mentioned that he could review other options but became highly belligerent, defensive, and rude and far too aggressive. I understand that perhaps there was some frustration on Joe's part in trying to reach me ahead of my renewal date, however, while I may have missed some calls, I certainly did not get any emails. Regardless of the circumstance, there was simply no reason on earth to speak to a lady in that manner. This is horrible and completely unacceptable behavior and I fully intend to take this complaint as far as I can.

Joe is the nicest guy. I've been with them for a long time, and he always goes out of his way to make sure I have the best coverage but still within my rate.

Where do I begin ... we have been a Potts client for close to 34 years. We have homeowners, umbrella, two auto policies and a classic car policy with Hagerty (a Nationwide company) all through this agency. As you can imagine, with all of these policies - we pay hefty premiums for which this agent receives commission. This agency used to be a top-notch agency when his old admin assistant, Gayle, was there and when his father, Bob, was involved. Now, not so much. With the length of time we've been with this agency, the commissions earned over the years and our loyalty to the agent and the company, I would expect some decent customer service. We have always received paper documents and paper bills. This changed without our knowledge or consent. I found out about it by a telephone call from the office - they called but never left a message. I noticed it on my caller ID as a missed call when I came home from work. I called the office back and was told one of my policies was in late status a month ago. When I questioned what they were talking about, 'paperless', I was given several different explanations but always saying 'I authorized the change". NO I did not. Then I was told it was a 'company change'. I instructed their office to change it back to my receiving paper policy documents and billing - this was August 11. I find out on September 7 that this change had never been processed. I find this out when I go on-line, out of curiosity, as I realized I have not received any policy renewals in the mail. This starts another conversation with the office - again no satisfactory explanation as to why the changes were not processed, I kept being told 'you'll lose the paperless discount'. I DO NOT care about a paperless discount - I never had it before, have always received paper, have always paid my premiums in full at renewal so obviously I am not worried about a small discount. I end the conversation with the agent's office and contact the company directly. After 6 phone calls (excellent customer service there though!), it was determined this paperless change was a company wide roll-out on May 5, 2022, to any policyholder they had an email on file for. Ok, things change, not happy but things change. I then ask why I wasn't notified PRIOR to this change - Nationwide confirmed I was NEVER notified via US mail or email. They asked me why my agent had not notified me - GOOD QUESTION. As a direct result of my original change request on August 11 NOT being processed, I had two more policies that were ready to go into jeopardy status since I had not received any notifications - no US mail and nothing via email. In dealing with the company directly, I finally have confirmation of my wishes all policy and bills are now paper, all premiums have been paid. My issues are: 1) regardless of a company-wide roll out, the agent should have followed-up with his customers to confirm that they were aware of this company change and discuss it with them - perfect opportunity to review all policies and coverage (especially 34 year customers). 2) I should have never been told that I authorized this change and receive push back from his administrative assistant when I said I did not authorize this change. 3) It should not have taken me a month to get this straightened out. I should not have had to contact the company directly - that is what the agent's job is.

In all fairness, I do need to divulge that at one point, several years ago, I did work in in this office - have been in & out of the insurance industry, license holder, for many years. I left his employment abruptly, by my own choosing. I was not happy there, especially after I witnessed unprofessionalism with specific clients - I no longer wanted to be a part of that.

Because of my background, I understand company changes but I also understand an agent's fiduciary responsibility to their clients. The agent dropped the ball in follow-up and customer service. I will be looking elsewhere for a different agent and/or company.
