Baker Insurance is an Agency not an insurance company. They shop around at the different insurance companies to get you the best overall rate. That doesn't mean just the cheapest. Your insurance is worthless if you have a claim and the insurance company refuses to pay. Baker insurance also takes into account how well the company manages claims. This is very important. The group always shops around for the best policy for us. It's good to stay with the same insurance company if you can despite sometimes having a slightly higher rate, but the group will really step up to tell you when the existing rate has gotten out of hand. Before contacting you, they'll shop around for competitive rates. I've been with them since my wife and I got married 27 years ago!

Consider this... I was with Erie Insurance previously. I owned a house and car. I married my wife and tried to add her to the policy. The amount for her car came back higher than her existing rate by herself, and all she had was a car to insure. We were both over 25yrs old. There was no reason for this. I contacted Erie and they told me that if I would shop around for a better rate then they would match it. Why in the hell would I do that?!!! That's their job to stay competitive. I contacted Baker and they beat my existing rate by hundreds of dollars, which back then equated to >25% savings.

Also, when our first child turned 16 our insurance company drastically raised our insurance which is to be expected but they continued to do this each year afterwards. I think the insurance company didn't want to insure teenage drivers so they continuously raise rates ridiculously high to push you out. Baker insurance contacted to correct the situation. Once again saving us A LOT of money. I don't recall exactly but I think it was more than $1700.

With such a long review you might think I'm a vested interest. I don't other than that I've been with them a very long time and they've taken really good care of us (my family) financially.

There have been a few times when I thought we were paying too much. I shopped around on my own but the 'savings' were only maybe $150. I didn't feel it was worth taking the chance considering the relationship we've had. Even the insurance agent offering the competitive rate said he wouldn't switch...all things considering.

I do want to mention that we've had a few claims and they were resolved with no problems. Baker Insurance stepped in a few times in support of us but the claims were always resolved very quickly regardless of which insurance company we were with.

Steve has always worked with me to get good rates. Service after when I have questions has always been good. The location isn't convenient, but I have always done everything by phone or online, so it's never been an issue.
