In 2020, I tried Sheila Johnson CPA, EA and she was terrible. Kept stringing me along and getting nothing done. So, I found waterfront and tried to work with Lisa. At first, they were great about helping us in a pinch to get the 2020 taxes completed after our terrible experience with Sheila. Her digital platform is super easy as well. I would’ve given them a 4 out of 5 star (communication and coordination could have been smoother). We signed up again with Lisa for the 2021 tax year and suddenly it was difficult to get a response, then when she did respond it was promising everything would be done on time no problem. I checked back weekly to give them some space to work, but also to make sure it was getting done or if we needed to adjust along the way (like if she needed an extension). Really trying to be reasonable. Well, Friday at 5pm on Easter weekend when the taxes were due on Monday, Lisa said she didn’t have time to get ours done (we submitted all of our stuff before her deadline back in Feb!) and that she suggested paying $20k in taxes by Monday! Are you kidding?! Very unprofessional. She could have handled that so much better - and we have her every chance to do so. Thank goodness we had already done much of it ourselves in free tax software as a double check, but so much for a paid service. 1 star… and that’s being generous.

Edit: given the response back, zero stars. I see that accountability is not part of the repertoire. At least own the mistake and make it right. Yes, I filed everything way ahead of time except one document that I gave a heads up would not be available until later.
