If there was a 0 star option they would get it. The absolute worst bank I’ve ever dealt with. Impossible to get on the phones and when you do, not one person can help. They all have to talk to their “supervisor” or “specialist” none of which exist if you ask me. Refinance as soon as you can. Get away from this place.

This credit union is absolutely horrible. I live out of state and the only way to pay my car payment was mailing a check or paying in-person with a check. Obviously, paying in person was not an option, but mailing is very unrealiable. No online payment options unless you open a bank account with them. In addition, it’s impossible to get a hold of a real person at any time unless you want to stay on hold for 40+ minutes. Payoff amount was incorrect twice on the online account information or the app, so the two times I tried to pay off the loan there was still a remaining balance. I recommend ANY other credit union as this was the most frustrating, inefficient, and outdated loan service I’ve ever used.

Worst Customer Service Experience - Avoid for Loans and most likely any other type of business!

MECU has been a nightmare to work with, and it’s honestly giving credit unions a bad reputation. The customer service is the absolute worst – I've spent hours on hold multiple times, only to be disconnected before ever reaching a real person. Their policies are inflexible and make it difficult to manage a loan. For example, you’re only allowed two changes to your loan, including payment date and amount adjustments.

I'm currently dealing with a car loan through MECU, and it’s been incredibly frustrating. With all the hoops you have to jump through just to manage a basic loan, I’m genuinely surprised they’re still in operation. I’ve noticed many other Google reviews echoing similar issues, and MECU holds a low rating for good reason. This bank is giving credit unions a terrible image. I would strongly advise anyone against using this bank for auto loans or any type of loan or financial services. This institution desperately needs an audit to address its poor customer service and outdated policies.

I would give 0 stars if I could. Any time I need to call I have to wait an hour or more, and usually multiple phone calls. I had to replace my card (again) due to fraud, and I wanted to add it to my digital wallet. I was prompted to call the bank to verify, which turned out to be a call center or something who helps out. Turns out they couldn't complete the verification process and gave me MECU's number to call. After 3 different attempts and staying on the phone listening to the annoying on hold music, I finally got through to someone. She told me that she put it in the request for me and I should get a call back within 24 hours to let me know my card was finished being added. Well, I got a notification a little while ago that my card is just about ready to be added, but I just need one last step to verify... Call the bank again!!! So I called that first #, where they at least pick up pretty quickly and told me they never got a call from mecu and I need to call them again. I've been sitting on the phone for 11 minutes now while typing this up. I am so unbelievably frustrated and don't think I will continue using MECU. Time to switch somewhere who has at least somewhat decent customer service. I've never experienced such horrible customer service.

I have been trying for a week straight to get my online account manually verified so that I can add an account to do an external transfer. Every time I call, I have to sit on hold for an hour just for someone to pick up and tell me they will escalate the situation and they will call me back within 48 hours. The fact that I’m required to be available for 48 hours to get a callback about verifying my account that I have the correct username and password for is crazy. This “manual verification” is only required if I want to transfer money OUT of the account. This was never an issue when I was transferring money INTO the account. The worst part is that I had two external transfer accounts set up prior to this for incoming transfers and they are not even listed in the system. This is the absolute worst banking system I have ever used by far. I’m definitely reaching out to the BBB next.

Wish I had never signed up with MECU. There are MUCH better banks and credit unions so I would stay clear of this one. Their customer service is terrible. If you have to call them, you better clear your entire afternoon because you will NOT get ahold of anyone. If you do, they most likely will not be able to help. Using the banking apps are a nightmare. They do not work properly and I am having to constantly call these people to regain access to my accounts, but the thing is, they NEVER can! This has been a consistent issue over the 3 years I've been with them! They can never help me with the issue. It has now been over a week (this time) that I am locked out of my account and have ZERO access to my funds. I am moving away from MECU as soon as this is over.

When buying a car MAKE SURE you ask what company gave you the loan. And if they tell you Mecu DON'T DO IT. We have bought our car and got insurance for the car. One this company wants to say I don't have insurance so they're charging me over $1,000 MORE for their insurance for NO REASON. I have not been able to pay a SINGLE payment due to site/app not working for us. Does this company want my money or not? BEcause it sure doesn't seem like. My husband and I have been trying to contact ANYONE for the past TWO MONTHS. And we have received ZERO RESPONCE. They obviously sent me a repo notice due to none of the payments being paid. Except like I just explained WE CAN NOT REACH ANYONE TO DO ANYTHING ABOUT THIS. Never again. NEVER! Hope this company is ready to have lawyers involved in this. What a JOKE of a company.

I will rather give a zero star if you see this bank run; worst bank there are professionally scammer. Very pooor in communication I will even say extremely poooor in communication. When they approved you the loans the next thing they do is to find the way to scam you. Will never advise that to someone
