BLUF: I never had issues with the IRS until Mike was hired for his CPA services. I regret not reading the reviews before hiring him. If you have a security clearance…think twice about using Tax Time CPA.
We normally have H&R Block file our taxes but because we sold a home in CA and bought investments properties in CO, we felt it was better to hire a CPA. In short- we hired Mike to file our 2021 and 2022 taxes. We began to receive notices from the IRS and the state indicating we owed money for 2021. This prompted questions and emails to Mike, asking for an explanation to the letter and for a status update for the 2022 taxes. I reminded Mike I was active duty, with security clearance and having tax issues is problematic. In over 20yrs of filing taxes, I never had IRS issues until he was hired. The IRS letter said we owed $5k for tax year 2021. Mike was adamant we did not owe $5k, it was more like $500. I have an email to prove it. He said he would write the IRS a letter to dispute this balance. After a span of several months of trying to get through to Mike, emails and voicemails went ignored. (I would have driven to his office if I still lived in the local area.) Out of desperation, I got onto (his web-site) TaxTime CPA and scheduled a free phone consultation with him. He never called me and never sent the letter of dispute to the IRS because the IRS letters kept on coming with incrementing late fees. While on his website, I saw he was “endorsed by Dave Ramsey.” This blew my mind! I called the Dave Ramsey representative to tell them what my experience was and to tell them I was not the only one he seems to blow off (I read the yelp reviews AFTER I was frustrated with him and his lack of service he has you pay for on a monthly basis). They said a mentor would be reaching out to Mike. Not sure what came of it. We ended up paying the huge balance that ballooned with late fees because Mike proved to be untrustworthy/unreliable. I eventually learned he NEVER FILED the 2022 taxes in 2022 despite having everything sent to him. I had been asking him for an update for 2022 taxes for over 6 months, this showed me he never bothered to check the status. Something about having a high turnover rate with employees and our taxes must have fallen through the cracks. I am honestly surprised he is still in business. I believe he owns his own business which can prove to be troublesome to clients. The option to speak to a supervisor isn’t there. I am shocked he is still in business.

We hired Mike at Tax Time last September to help with our taxes, accounting, and general bookkeeping services. He’s done nothing and rarely answers an email. He’s responsible for our tax filing and didn’t do anything so he automatically filed an extension. Waiting for answers to several emails. As a small business avoid Mike at all costs. We pay for his services monthly and get zero in return. It’s basically fraud of services.

We hired Mike to help with our taxes this year. He sent us a link to a portal and provided no direction on what to add or where to add it. Emailed and called him multiple times without any responses. He finally tells us what to upload. We did so and then again wouldn't respond to us. All the while charging our card for his monthly access fees. So now we are out the "on boarding fee" and two months of "service" where he wouldn't respond to us. After we cancelled he finally responded and said sorry he missed my emails... yet I was paying to have access to him. He also continues to bill our card and refuses to refund us for doing absolutely nothing. We had to get a different CPA. No onboarding fee and they actually answer the phone. Buyer beware of Mike! He is a thief!

I paid the $156 onboarding fee back in February for the privilege of getting completely ghosted and having the most stressful Tax Day of my life. I had to scramble at the last minute to figure out an estimate to pay along with my extension to avoid penalties.

They were patient in listening to my situation, thorough in answering my questions and telling me my options.
