I wasn't going to post a review but then I saw her commercials running again. We used her for a number of years for relatively simply tax returns. Always seemed fine. Then, last year we waited a little longer than usual and got our stuff to them the end of March. Electronic returns were completed but when I went online to sign and approve there was an additional charge. I forget exactly how much, around d $100. It said this charge was for insurance in case of an audit. As I said, it was a simple return and I trusted them to file correctly so I didn't need or want the insurance. It wouldn't let me complete the return unless I paid it. I wasn't sure what this was all about, maybe we didn't pay fully when we dropped off our stuff and I also didn't want to be the guy that calls with a dumb question a couple days before tax day so I paid it and figured I would discuss it when I picked up my hard copy.

When I dropped in for my copy I found a pamphlet on the counter explaining the OPTIONAL charge for insurance, the one I paid so I explained my confusion to the woman behind the counter and asked for a refund. This is when it got no so optional. She said she'd have to talk to Kathy (the tax lady) but she was put of town. I think it was a week or so when we finally got in touch with her and we're able to get a refund but they weren't nice about it. I explained there was no opt out button and she said I had to call. I explained that no where on there did it say it was optional or to call if you didn't want it.

Because of that we are going elsewhere this year. A shame they lost a long term customer because they tried to con everyone out of an additional hundred or so bucks.

This is the first and last time I will use the Taxlady. After paying 600.00 to get my 24 taxes done I spoke to 1 associate that was really nice after that it was all down hill. I had some questions on my taxes and whenever I called I was told to go to my portal. Ok how do I do that we will send you a link NEVER HAPPENED. I was also told I would get a call back NEVER HAPPENED . You would think with what she charges it would be a little more personable felt more like an assembly line.

I have used Your Tax Lady for my tax returns for 8 years and am completely satisfied with the services and the prices. I also had them amend 2 past year taxes that I was sure had a mistake. I received over $8,000. from the amended returns. They are great!

Most of all, Kathy leads a wonderful team who make you feel you are a person, and not a number. In many ways Colorado Springs is still a "small town" and word of mouth matters. They work with small businesses and individuals, at reasonable prices. This year was a more complicated year for me than usual. Kathy understood and answered all my questions, and was patient!
