Update: I never did hear back from anyone at Gibbs about my concerns. Also, the 5-star "They're great!" review below is by Zack Winsett, a Gibbs employee). My message to my neighbors looking for tax help (other Marshall fire victims) has been to either just look elsewhere or at least ask a bunch of questions before signing up with this group.
Original review:
I was really disappointed by my experience with Gibbs and Associates. 1) I felt their fee was very high, 2) they missed that I'd accidently over contributed to my wife's IRA and actually told me to contribute more to her IRA, and 3) they didn't file for an extension to give me time to straighten out the IRA until I suggested it. I wrote a very polite email explaining my concerns--even inviting them to tell me if I could have done something better.. I asked them to review their fee and consider a partial refund (because if I'd followed their instructions for the IRA contribution we would have been in big trouble). That was two weeks ago--no response at all. Its too bad--I think they're capable of much better, but I can't work with them again.
