Ok will try to keep this short. Switched to Jim Whitlock (JWA) and AmFam back in Nov 2023. Everything went pretty smoothly getting setup. They said that a home inspector would come out and look at the house, etc. Fast forward to September 2024 - I had heard nothing from the inspection so I assumed all was ok. JWA calls me and says they see AmFam is not going to renew because of my upper side deck. Says they called me in March about it - well that was a lie - my cell phone logs every call and nothing in 2024 until now (Sept) from JWA or AmFam - no letters/emails as well. I ask them if they can extend the time so I can get a contractor to fix the deck since it's less than 2 months until my policy expires now. The supposedly called and asked AmFam and AmFam said no. So I filed a complaint with the state, Shawna from AmFam underwriting said they were following policy and she said they would not extend. The house is only 8 years old. Now I have to scramble to get a contractor to come out and fix in less than 2 months because of JWA and AmFam dropping the ball. Surprised AmFam is heartless on fixing their error and not being flexible to give me adequate time to get the deck repaired. It literally costs them nothing to be nice and extend the timeframe. Imagine how they will act when it costs them money like a claim. Lord knows getting a contractor to complete a project in less than 2 months is not going to be easy these days. Guess I will have to search for a new insurance company since AmFam is just being bullies.

I was in a car accident recently and had to file a claim with AmFam. I would honestly say if it wasn't for the team here at the Whitlock Agency, (Lisa, Trish, and Tamera), I would consider switching to another insurance. The way corporate treats their members is downright appalling but whenever I call and need something from Whitlock's Agency, the girls there are ALWAYS a pleasure to deal with. I think they deserve some recognition; they are the best part of American Family!
