In June of 2019 I paid Zerlin $300 for tax planning. I explained I was looking to open an LLC and needed their advice. In Jan 2020, I completed the firms tax organizer, indicated a new LLC was created, and submitted detailed documentation. This is when the communication issues started. After multiple emails and calls over 3 months, Mr. Zerlin offer the explanation in the picture below on 3/30/2020.

"I realize that you submitted your organizer very early. Your return was one of the first we worked on, but there were so many questions and issues identified that we put it to the side. Sorry." - Micahel Zerlin

Mr. Zerlin finally scheduled a call, where we wasted 30+ minutes because he could not get his software to work correctly. We ended the call with action items, and Zerlin ghosted again.

I desperately tried to contact Mr. Zerlin through out April to get important details to file for SBA relief loans and my personal stimulus check. Zerlin did not reply to multiple emails until I finally contacted someone else in his office. Today Zerlin fired me as a client offering the following explanation. I will also post pictures of questions in the firms questionnaire related to business filing where I clearly indicated new entities for formed and acquired.

Dear Daniel,

Zeitlin & Associates and I are not able to provide the services you want. We hereby withdraw as your accountants.

The only engagements we ever began or agreed to do were for income tax preparation of your 2019 individual returns and 2019 partnership returns for XXXXXX and XXXXXXX (“the entities”).

Since you did not ask for us to prepare returns for the entities (or provide any information that would suggest that returns needed to be prepared) until after the due date of the returns (March 15, 2020), the IRS will send penalty notices once the returns are filed. The IRS must remove the penalties if you and XXXXXX file timely individual returns including your share of income or loss reported by the entities. This will require correspondence.
