I found my place through a friend and had all of my ducks in a row to move in. It took three weeks for them to be ready and I was never called and given updates. I would call and leave a message with the receptionist and be called days later. When I finally was able to move in the heater was not functioning. It was freezing and I didn’t even want to be there. At least three weeks went by of me calling over and over again. It was finally repaired but there was zero acknowledgement that I’d been forced to live in a poorly insulated building with no heater. The apartment was also poorly cleaned. Food crumbs everywhere and my girlfriend got glass in her feet from the carpet on multiple occasions.

I found a new place a little over a month ago and turned in my thirty day notice the same day I had a new tenant submit an application to take over the lease. The whole process has been painfully SLOW and on top of it Eric came and inspected an apartment that I left FAR better than I found it and still charged me a cleaning fee and for repairs.

The icing on the cake is that he gave me a date this would all be finished by then never updated me to tell me it was going to take longer than expected. So now I’m being charged for two weeks of rent, repairs, cleaning fees, and the $300 to terminate my lease. Goodbye security deposit.

I called twice this week because I called on Monday and was told someone would get back to me Tuesday morning. No one contacted me so I left a message trying to figure out what was going on and why the new tenant hadn’t been moved in. This morning Eric left me a voicemail saying the new tenant couldn’t make it in to sign yet and he was doing everything on his end. Thankfully I am friends with the new tenant and have been in contact with her about the situation for weeks. He STRAIGHT UP LIED and blamed it on her. SUPER UNPROFESSIONAL AND DISRESPECTFUL

Property management as well as Eric Dugan both completely rude. Property manager came up to my boyfriend and I accused of us not having a parking permit as well as accused us of not living here. Did not check her records to know that my car is registered and allowed to be on the plot. Did not introduce herself when approaching us and did not approach us with the right attitude. We informed her that we are living here and that my car is registered and that I in fact did have a parking permit for her to continue to say that I do not have a permit and that she already took pictures of my car. I was made very uncomfortable by her unprofessional behavior. Eric Dugan called the day after and informed us only one parking spot is allowed when he originally informed us that using two parking spots would be no problem. Eric Dugan did not allow any space for us to speak our side and automatically chose the side of the property manager.

My boyfriend and I have been renting a home in Eureka from Eric and Susan Dugan for the last 9 months and we've been meaning to write a review for this rental agency. We have been totally happy since day 1 and will continue renting from this agency. Our house has had no problems, and during our initial move-in Eric was very responsive to our emails and phone calls to get everything in order. It has been very nice working with someone who is very personable and takes the worries away from all the horror stories you hear/read about renting experiences. When we first moved, we were new to the area and have two big dogs (which can make finding a good rental really challenging!) so we were so thrilled when we were offered the rental with seemingly no-questions-asked. It's been a great experience so far and I anticipate it to continue as such. I hope this review helped!

Been with them for less than a year just moved out it was a good experience up to the end we left the house better than we found it they still found a way to insult my wife and charge us for a repair. It to bad would have been five stars up to that point.

Only sends incompetent & unorganized contractors to work on repairs,
Waited months to fix my termite problem,
Attempted* to charge late fees during a pandemic even after I paid every month,
and raising my rent on a cheap, non-remodeled unit in the midst of a housing crisis/pandemic. No humanity involved, obviously.

Other management in Humboldt is not much better unfortunately.

we first got the place because my boyfriends school semester started and we needed housing asap. big mistake but we needed someplace close to HSU. susan told him if there were too many problems we could just move and use the abandonment clause California law has ( which i was told messes up your credit ). they obviously didnt want to do anything to make the place any more than barely technically habitable. when we first got the keys and started to move in the carpet was literally soaking wet from a horrible cleaning job and the place stank like mold from being in a locked damp airless environment for days. after two weeks in that environment we finally got a dehumidifier and that helped immensely. unfortunately with people breathing in the house that was enough to create mold in the spare room, bedroom walls, bathroom all over and the only room safe was the living room. the living room was okay because that is where the heating unit is and barely a puff would get into the rooms because of the heat sucking holes in the poorly installed frames of the doors. this place cant be heated beyond the living room without wasting energy. the window mechanisms on almost all the windows to keep them open are broken, the door handle to the second bedroom fell off and hasn't been fixed the entire time we've been here and California law states trash cans must be provided, and they weren't. they just wont cooperate with us unless we have some legal ground to stand on, if we don't we get ignored. since we got the dehumidifier taken from us 2 months ago (we were promised it back in December and were moving out today and still haven't gotten one back) we have been combating outrageous mold issues but legally we cant do anything to them unless personal property gets damaged and i would like that to be prevented if possible. we were told to buy a dehumidifier ( $250+ for one the size we need ) but in California law it states we need to be given the proper tools to deal with the mold, and maintaining a mold free house is our problem. i called eric about this and he said he couldnt get another dehumidifier and told us they are expensive ( if its too expensive for a company why is it somehow within the budget of two students ). susan knows the law, and if she thought she had the upper hand she would be mean or rude to try and deter us from getting things fixed (like the dehumidifier, because, you know, people should just like breathing in mold) but if we had a legal leg to stand on she would get stuff handled right away. eric on the other hand "forgot" about us a lot and i had to get stern with him for anything to happen but when i got a little mean, boy were things handled quickly.
