We called about seeing a new rental listing with McKee Properties in Coronado and within the hour we were viewing the place that eventually became our home. The application process went smoothly and efficiently. We wanted to get in the house prior to moving to measure for furniture and without hesitation, a time was set. Move-in was easy and on our timeline. The items that need tended to were fixed as soon as they were addressed. Our Property Mgr, Brendan, is incredibly quick to answer emails in a thorough and friendly fashion. Everyone in the office that we have interacted with have been kind and courteous. We would rent from McKee Properties over and over again.

My wife and I have had a positive experience with McKee Properties. When we called about an initial showing for the townhome we are renting as tenants, they called back the same day and scheduled a showing for the following day. Brendan and Ben both showed up on time and gave us ample opportunity to inspect the property before deciding to rent. The application process was straightforward and we are fortunate everything fell in to place. We are thankful for the continued responsiveness and professionalism of Brendan and his staff. Though we’ve come across a few issues with the property itself while settling in, McKee Properties has been proactive in making sure our needs are met.

I wouldn’t rent with McKee again, but I want to warn others to be vigilant about everything. When we first moved in they had not done the inspection, cleaning, or anything else. Luckily I took pictures of EVERYTHING that was broken, dirty, etc. and sent them to McKee as evidence. They did send people out to clean it and a handyman to fix things but only because I sent them an email showing how bad it was. When we moved out we did so much yard work, patching, etc. to leave it better than when we found it and took videos/photos of everything. They still tried to charge us a ton of money out of our deposit. I sent them a cease & desist letter and cited many laws they were violated and they issued me a full refund on my deposit but it was only because I was very on top of things. If you rent from them please also protect yourself. They also made us do things like give tours of the property when we gave our 1 month notice and they use cheap solutions like poorly installed woodchips that lead to a lot of maintenance and most of the appliances did not work well/needed frequent fixing, but the main gripe is that I feel they take advantage of their renters. The only reason I’m giving 2 stars instead of 1 is because they would sometimes make accommodations, like they let us stay in the property for 1 extra week and they did send cleaners and refund the deposit once called out. They were also pretty timely when we submitted maintenance requests. I don’t have any outstanding issues with them but mainly want to warn others so everyone can take proper precautions and always leave a paper trail.

I was a tenant with McKee Properties for a little over three years at University Heights , and I have nothing but positive things to say about my experience. Throughout my tenancy, any maintenance issues that arose were promptly addressed and resolved.

The current team at McKee Properties has consistently shown exceptional professionalism and friendliness. They have been courteous, responsible, and attentive to all of my needs and concerns.

I wholeheartedly recommend McKee Properties to anyone in search of reliable and caring property management. I wouldn’t hesitate to use their services again in the future. Thanks you!

Overly simple. We needed stuff done. We were paranoid about pushing. Backyard was so overgrown with weeds it got to be taller than the roof. We asked off and on with pictures for over a year. Didn't get done. Another representative, when I brought it up said that if I'm not communicating these things, it's not in them.
Water heater broke down, still paranoid about pushing because they made us go month to month a long time ago. Took a few days before they got anyone out to look at it cuz it was about to be the weekend. Found out the water heater was supposed to be replaced 5 years ago when we moved in. We reported leaks in the ceiling. Within days, before they even did anything, we and our neighbors (both under the same company) were given notices to vacate. They were going to take the houses off the market/ have family move in. 6 months after we moved they finally got rid of the weeds.

If I could give them 0 stars I would. We just moved in on December 22 on 706 glorietta blvd in Coronado and immediately realized this place is a dump. There was left over trash in the back yard. At least a truck full. The house was dirty and none of the appliances/heater had been serviced. Extreme fire hazards with a FILTHY heating vent and our neighbors were apologizing for them. The company is hardly responsive. Our manager robin has been little help and is always “working from home”and never answers the phone. We started our lease in December 1st so they had PLENTY of time to prepare the property-even on our dime. All of our neighbors are encouraging us to get our 1st months rent paid for. I WOULD NEVER RECOMMEND THIS COMPANY FOR YOUR PROPERTY. I am a home owner in Texas and trust me when I say they will allow your property to get damaged and will not keep up with it.

We purchased a property several months ago that had a tenant in place, with McKee Properties. We honored the tenants remaining lease and working with Brendan & Robin with McKee was super easy & convenient. We found them to be friendly, very helpful with questions, knowledgeable about SD rules & regulations, professional and kind. We would use them again in a heartbeat and highly recommend them as a business!

Ok, I’ll give the guys two stars… They have sent people out to repair things in the past. Sometimes it would take a couple weeks depending on how urgent of an issue it was. We had a couple electrical outages due to how old the wiring was, not rated for the current amount of consumption we use today. That is what it is. So property was not new by any means, rent was reasonably inexpensive. Great, so far.

When it comes to moving out, I’ve had a lot of issues. I’ve been bugging them to get a pre-move out inspection. They sent me a long list of how perfect I needed to leave, even though I took over someone’s lease and moved into a dirty apartment. So called them each week for a month. Never a call back, always he or she is out “leave a message and they’ll get back to you”. I was thankful when the owner changed management companies, at least they were straight to the point. “We’re renovating the unit, if you get all your stuff out and give us the keys you can have your full deposit.” Great!

…. Now , come to find out my auto payment is still set even after they no longer manage the property. No guess what the accountant is conveniently working from home, can only receive emails. No one wants to fix this for the tenants. We’re just gonna have to repeatedly call back until they’ve had enough. I don’t know if I should give 2 stars. Whatever no one reads these anyway.
